World Bank to continue to support Vietnam

The World Bank will continue to provide Vietnam with support as much as possible, WB East Asia and Pacific Regional Vice President Axel van Trotsenburg told Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at a meeting in Hanoi on Tuesday.

The WB official is in Vietnam for his three-day visit that will end on Thursday.

At the meeting, PM Dung said Vietnam will closely coordinate with the World Bank (WB) in disbursing the bank’s aid and improving the efficiency of use of the financial support.

The PM highly appreciated the sound development of the relationship between Vietnam and WB, and thanked the bank for aid programs intended for Vietnam in the past years.

Dung also said he hoped the WB will continue to give effective policy consultations to Vietnam and finance Vietnam’s socio-economic and infrastructure development, human resources training and poverty reduction.

In reply, Axel van Trotsenburg said that the bank will help Vietnam achieve its socio-economic goals by continuing to provide the country with financial support as much as possible.

The WB Vice President suggested that two sides closely cooperate with each other in disbursing the WB’s aids to Vietnam.

He also promised that his bank will also continue to give Vietnam policy consultations that are aimed at maintaining economic growth and stabilizing the macro-economy of the country.
