Mr. Thura K. Ko is the current Director of YGA Capital Limited, an institution offering financial advisory services and which focuses on identifying potential investment opportunities in Myanmar for domestic and international investors. Mr. Ko graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Economics. Mr. Ko spent much of his early career in investment banking firms, including 12 years in the Far East, based in Hong Kong, with a particular focus on Southeast Asia. His previous employers include Goldman Sachs (Asia) Limited and NM Rothschild & Sons. In May 2007, he was appointed Vice President of Providence Equity Asia Limited, a global telecom and media fund based in Hong Kong. Mr. Ko held that post for three years before returning to Myanmar to explore opportunities in both non-profit and for profit situations, resulting in the formation of YGA Capital.

Tan Sri Dr. Munir is the Chairman of Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd, and has been on its board since 2008. He obtained his B.Sc (Econ) from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1971, and his PhD in International Relations in 1978. He taught at the Department of International Relations in LSE from1972-1975, and was an analyst for Daiwa Europe NV in London from 1975-1978. On his return to Malaysia at the end of 1978, Tan Sri Dr. Munir joined The New Straits Times Press (NSTP) as a lead writer and progressed to become its Group Editor. He left The NST in 1986 to become the CEO of a small merchant bank, Pertanian Baring Sanwa (PBS), which then became Commerce International Merchant Bankers, the genesis of today’s CIMB Group. He left CIMB in 1993 at the invitation of the Government of Malaysia to set up the Securities Commission and became its first Executive Chairman until 1999. He continued with his illustrious career, serving in various capacities, including as Chairman of both Celcom and Malaysia Airlines System at different times. He was the founder and President of the Kuala Lumpur Business Club (2003-2008), and was the chairman of its Advisory Council. Dr. Munir, an Honorary Fellow, is Visiting Senior Fellow at LSE IDEAS (Centre for international affairs, diplomacy and strategy).

Chartsiri Sophonpanich was educated in the United States at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he obtained two Master’s Degrees in Chemical Engineering and in Management. After working at Citibank in New York, he returned to Thailand to join Bangkok Bank in 1986. He gained extensive experience at both operational and managerial levels in various departments at Bangkok Bank including Foreign Exchange Trading, Marketing, Treasury, Investment Banking Group and International Banking Group before being appointed President on December 1, 1994.

Apart from his main responsibility as President of Bangkok Bank, Mr. Chartsiri is also Chairman of the Thai Bankers’ Association and a member of the Board of Trustees of Singapore Management University.

Prior to her appointment as Executive Chairman on 1 November 2009, Ms Chew Gek Khim was the Non-Executive and Non-Independent Chairman of Straits Trading from 24 April 2008. Ms Chew works closely with the Group CFO and each of the CEO s of Straits Trading’s businesses in resources, property and hospitality to oversee the implementation of policies and decisions, including compliance with corporate governance codes. Ms Chew is also Executive Chairman of the Tecity Group of investment companies, the parent company of Straits Trading, which she joined in 1987. She also sits on the board of CapitaRetail China Trust, a listed trust of the CapitaLand Group.

Ms Chew is also Deputy Chairman of the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation in Singapore and the Tan Sri Tan Foundation in Malaysia. She chairs the National Environment Agency Board, and sits on the Singapore Totalisator Board and the Securities Industry Council.

A lawyer by training, Ms Chew graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1984.

Mr. Zobel de Ayala is a member of the J.P. Morgan International Council and the Mitsubishi Corp. International Advisory Committee. He is Chairman of the Harvard Business School Asia-Pacific Advisory Board, member of the board of the Harvard Business School Social Enterprise Initiative, Chairman of the Asia Business Council, Chairman of the World Wildlife Fund Philippine Advisory Council, and member of the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum. In 2007, he received the Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Award and in 2009 he was a recipient of the Philippine Legion of Honor in recognition of his outstanding public service to the country.

He earned his B.A. in economics (with honors) at Harvard University in 1981 and his M.B.A. in 1987. He is married to Elizabeth Eder and has four children. He enjoys adventure motorcycling in his spare time.

Mr. Consing was with J.P. Morgan & Co. from 1985 to 2004, and was based in Hong Kong and Singapore. From 1999 to 2004 he was President of J.P. Morgan Securities (Asia Pacific) and co-headed or headed the firm’s investment banking group in the Asia Pacific region.

Mr. Consing served as an independent board director of CIMB Group Holdings Berhad and CIMB Group Sdn. Berhad from 2004 – 2012, First Gen Corporation from 2005 – 2013, and Jollibee Foods Corporation since 2010. In 1999, he was the Vice President of Warner Music South East Asia.

His awards include the Honor of the Commander of the Order of the British Empire, conferred by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2011 for services to promote commercial and educational links between the UK and Malaysia. In 2010, he received the Officer of the Legion d’Honneur award from the French government, the highest award that can be conferred on a non-French national.

He was named as one of the world’s most creative people in business for 2011 by New York-based business magazine Fast Company, and awarded the inaugural ‘Travel Business Leaders Award’ winner by CNBC.
