Dr. Munir is the Chairman of Bank Muamalat and CIMB ASEAN Research Institute (CARI). He was the Group Editor of the New Straits Times Press (NST) and was also the founder and Executive Chairman of the Malaysia Securities Commission and Chairman of the Emerging Markets Committee. In 1986, he became the CEO of CIMB. He was also Chairman of Malaysian Airline System Berhad and Celcom Berhad. He is currently the Visiting Senior Fellow of the Southeast Asia International Affairs Programme at LSE IDEAS.

Chairul Tanjung is the founder and Chairman of Para Group, Indonesia’s leading consumer-focused conglomerate. Para Group has interests in three core industry sectors: Financial Services, Media, Entertainment, and Lifestyle, and Natural Resources. Chairul also serves as Chairman of the Indonesia Forum Foundation and Chairman of the National Kidney Foundation Indonesia. He is a member of the board of the Indonesian Committee for Humanitarian Programs, the Indonesian Red Cross, the Jakarta Art Foundation, and sits on the Board of Trustees of Universitas Airlangaa. He received the Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 Award at the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards ceremony organised by Enterprise Asia.

Chew Gek Khim was the Non-Executive and Non-Independent Chairman of Straits Trading from 24 April 2008 and was appointed as its Executice Chairman on 1 November 2009. She is also Executive Chairman of the Tecity Group of investment companies, the parent company of Straits Trading. She also sits on the board of CapitaRetail China Trust, a listed trust of the CapitaLand Group. She is Deputy Chairman of the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation in Singapore and the Tan Sri Tan Foundation in Malaysia. She chairs the National Environment Agency Board, and sits on the Singapore Totalisator Board and the Securities Industry Council. She graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1984.

Mr. Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ayala Corporation, the holding company of the oldest business group in the Philippines. Ayala Corporation has subsidiaries and affiliates in real estate development, telecommunications, banking and financial services, electronics manufacturing, water distribution, automotive dealerships, business process outsourcing and overseas real estate investments. Apart from his responsibilities on the boards of the Ayala Group companies, Mr. Zobel is a member of various international and local business and socio-civic organisations, including the JP Morgan International Council and Mitsubishi Corporation International Advisory Committee. He is also Chairman of the Harvard Business School Asia-Pacific Advisory Board, a member of the Harvard Global Advisory Council, Chairman of the Asia Business Council, Chairman of the World Wildlife Fund Philippine Advisory Council and a member of the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum. He is also the Philippine Representative to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council. In 2007, he received the Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Award, the school’s highest recognition. Mr. Zobel is a 2009 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Merit, awarded by the President of the Republic of the Philippines for enhancing the prestige and honor of the Republic of the Philippines both at home and abroad. Subsequently, Mr. Zobel was bestowed the Philippine Legion of Honor, with rank of Grand Commander, by the President of the Republic of the Philippines in recognition of his outstanding public service to the Republic. Mr. Zobel studied at Harvard University where he earned his BA in Economics (with honors) in 1981 and his MBA in 1987. He is married to Ms. Elizabeth Eder Zobel de Ayala and has four children. He enjoys adventure motorcycling in his spare time.

Patrick Walujo is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of the Northstar group, which was formed in 2003 and today is one of Indonesia’s leading private investment firms. Together with its partners, Northstar has invested $2 billion in various sectors, including energy, financial services, consumer and retail, industrial and communications. Prior to co-founding Northstar, Patrick was Senior Vice President of Pacific Century Ventures Ltd in Tokyo, where he played a key role in the firm’s mergers, acquisitions and corporate business development in Japan. He started his career at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in London and New York. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research & Industrial Engineering from Cornell University, USA. In 2009, Patrick was awarded Ernst & Young’s prestigious ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ award. He is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Tos Chirathivat started his retail career in 1989 as Project Development Director at Central Pattana PLC. In 1992 he became CEO of Big C Supercenter PLC, pioneering a new retail format in Thailand. In 1996 he was nominated to Chief Operating Officer of Central Retail Corporation Ltd, responsible for all operations and management of all retail business units within CRC. In 2002 he was elected CEO of Central Retail Corporation Ltd. Under his leadership, CRC entered its greatest period of growth, expanding into new formats and international markets. From 2002 to today, CRC’s total store network has expanded from 168 stores to 687 stores and annual sales have grown from USD 1.2 bn to 4.5 bn. Tos Chirathivat received his MBA from Columbia University and his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Wesleyan University.

Yeap Swee Chuan is the President & Chief Executive Officer of AAPICO Hitech, a post held since 1996. He commenced the Able Autopart Industries Co. Ltd. (AAPICO) in 1985. In 2000, he became the Director of Audit Committee of Goodyear (Thailand) PLC. Since 2005, he has lead the Malaysian Thai Chamber of Commerce as the Chairman. Consequently, he was appointed as the Director of Thai Board of Trade in 2010. In addition, he is also the vice-chairman of the Peace Network Foundation of Thailand. He graduated from Massey University, New Zealand with a degree in Industrial Management and Engineering. He also obtained Director Certification Program (DCP).

Seng Kok has extensive experience in advising foreign and local sponsors, lenders and governments on the legal aspects of major privatisation projects and transactions within Malaysia and in the Asian region. He represents a large number of international corporations and major Malaysian companies, advising them on the legal and strategic aspects of their businesses in Malaysia and elsewhere. Seng Kok is also very active in supporting the public and private sectors on promoting trade and investments in the Asian region. Seng Kok’s important contribution to the firm was recently highlighted when ZICOlaw won the Innovation in Corporate Strategy Award in the FT Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Awards, 2014. He was also recognised and shortlisted in the Most Innovative Lawyer category as the innovative individual that drove the industry and the firm’s innovation. Seng Kok is recognised as a leading lawyer in the Chambers Global Guide and is consistently acknowledged as one of Asia’s leading business lawyers in the Asia Law Leading Lawyers. A partner of Zaid Ibrahim and Co (a member firm of ZICOlaw) since 2005, Hanim heads the Corporate M&A group at Roosdiono & Partners. Her 15 years of regional practice experience includes being resident in Malaysia, Japan and Indonesia where she specialised in major infrastructure project financing and M&A deals in aviation, banking, insurance, mining, oil and gas, plantations, and property.

Mr. Chin Wei Min is the Asia Pacific Managing Director for Capital Market Industry at Accenture. In addition to his APAC management position, Wei Min also holds client management roles, working with some of the leading financial services clients in Asia. Throughout his 20 plus years career, Wei Min led numerous transformation programs, yielding significant outcome for his clients, as well as provided pragmatic advisory services to clients across Asia. Wei Min is also heavily involved in industry working groups for regulatory reform and new product launch.

Dr. Ilham Akbar Habibie Co-Founded Mitra Energia Ltd. in 2004. Dr. Habibie is the owner of PT Ilthabi Bara Utama and serves as its President and Director. He has also been the Chief Executive Officer and President of a number of aerospace and other companies which he founded. He served as a scientist and lecturer at the Technical University of Munich for seven years. He went on to work as an engineer at Boeing Commercial Airplane Group in the United States, from 1994 to 1996. While working in the United States, he assisted the President Director of Industri Pesawat Terbang Nusantara (‘IPTN’) the state-owned aerospace company in Indonesia, on the N2130 Regional Jet Program.

Since 1996, he served as Executive Vice President and Program Manager for Regional Jet Division of IPTN, subsequently the Executive Vice President of the Airplane Business Unit and then the Operation & Commercial Executive Vice President until 2000. He left PT. Dirgantara Indonesia in June 2001 to pursue his career in the private sector. From 1996 to 1998, he served as also the assistant to the Chairman of Badan Pengkajan dan Penerapan Teknogi (‘BPPT’) for Aeronautics and Advanced Technology. Since 2002, he has held senior positions at a number of Indonesian companies in the private sector, including Chief Executive Officer and President Director of PT. Ilthabi Rekatama and Commissioner of PT Citra Tubindo tbk.

He owns 50 per cent. of Ilthabi Ltd., of Ilthabi Sdn Bhd. As well as its stake in Mitra (prior to Mitra’s acquisition), Ilthabi Sdn Bhd also has an investment in Aviation Support Ltd. His professional career has straddled both academia and the business sector including time with the Technical University of Munich, Germany, Boeing in the United States, Bandung Institute of Technology and P.T. IPTN in Indonesia. He serves as Independent Commissioner of PT Intermedia Capital Tbk. Dr. Habibie serves as a Non-Executive Director of Hichens, Harrison (Asia) Ltd. He served as a Non-executive Director at Sound Oil Plc from July 12, 2006 to December 12, 2012. He qualified as an Engineer in Germany in 1987. He holds a PhD in aeronautical engineering from the Technical University of Munich and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Pushpanathan Sundram (Nathan) is the Managing Director of EAS Strategic Advice – Asia in Singapore. EAS is a global consultancy that provides strategic and specialist services for governments, trade/industry associations and companies in regulatory affairs, public affairs, trade policy and law, issues management, and corporate social responsibility. The Singapore office covers the Asia Pacific operations of the company. Nathan is Senior Fellow with the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA); Advisor to the Asia Logistics Council (ALC) and Executive Member of the Global Coalition for Efficient logistics (GCEL); Principal Advisor to the ASEAN Food and Beverage Alliance (AFBA); Executive Chairman of China-ASEAN Business Association (CABA); and Advisor to the Zhanjiang Municipality Government, Guangdong, China. He was a fellow with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore in 2012 and an Associate with the University of Tokyo in 2006 under the Japan Foundation’s Intellectual Fellowship. He served at the ASEAN Secretariat for 16 years holding several senior positions with the last being the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN (Deputy Minister level) for ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) from January 2009 to March 2012. He is the youngest and the first professionally recruited Deputy in the history of ASEAN. He was instrumental in drafting, negotiating and concluding the AEC Blueprint, the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity and several ASEAN economic agreements and free trade agreements, including the framework for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). He provided leadership in the initial years of the implementation of the AEC Blueprint and forging a stronger engagement between ASEAN and the private sector, which he saw as key to building the AEC. He holds a Bachelor degree in Economics from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a Master degree in Public Policy from the LKYSPP, NUS in collaboration with the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, USA.

Bev Postma, originally from the UK is an international policy specialist with more than 18 years’ experience in the agri-food sector, she has worked with the food industry in both Europe and Asia. Before joining Food Industry Asia (FIA), Bev held regional roles with leading companies, including Kellogg’s, Syngenta and the British Agriculture Bureau. Bev has been at the forefront of many noteworthy projects, including the development of self-regulatory codes on food labelling in Europe and Asia and the introduction of a pan-Asia food safety surveillance network and fast-response unit for the food industry. Bev is a respected adviser and spokesperson for the food industry and a leading expert on policy developments that relate to regulatory harmonisation, food safety standards and the complex dual burden of under-nutrition and obesity.

Arthur R. Tan is a Senior Managing Director of Ayala Corporation, one of the biggest, most respected and most widely diversified conglomerates in the Philippines. Concurrently, he is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Micro-Electronics Inc. (IMI), a subsidiary of Ayala Corporation. IMI is a vertically integrated electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider to leading global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Arthur is also the Chairman of the Semiconductor Electronics Industries in the Philippines Inc. (SEIPI), a Director of Renewable Energy Test Center (RETC LLC), and a member of the Board of Trustees of Philippine Quality and Productivity Movement (PQPM) and Philippine Development Foundation (PhilDev). Prior to IMI, Arthur held various technical and managerial positions in Engineering, Design, and Sales at American Microsystems, Inc. (AMI). The last position he held at AMI was Managing Director for Asia-Pacific and Japan. Arthur obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology in the Philippines. He attended various management programs, the latest of which is the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School from September 3 to October 24, 2013.

Alexander Rusli assumed the role of President Director and CEO as of 1st of November 2012 after serving as Independent Commissioner since January 2010. Previously he was a Managing Director in Northstar Pacific. Prior to his post in Northstar Pacific, he served the Government of Indonesia for nine years, whereby he was the Expert Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and the Expert Staff to the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises. He was also a Principal Consultant for Pricewaterhouse Coopers Management Consulting, Indonesia. He is an alumnus of Curtin University and holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Information Systems.

H.E AMB. Bilahari Kausikan joined the Foreign Service in 1981. He was absorbed into the Administrative Service in 1983. He held various appointments in MFA, including First Secretary in Washington, before his appointment as Singapore’s Ambassador to The Russian Federation in 1994. He was appointed as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York in 1995 and concurrently High Commissioner to Canada and Ambassador to Mexico. He was appointed Deputy Secretary in MFA in 1998 and Second Permanent Secretary (Foreign Affairs) in 2001. He has been Permanent Secretary (Foreign Affairs) since 2010. He has steered the Singapore Foreign Service ably with his pragmatic leadership in managing Singapore’s foreign relations in an increasingly complex and uncertain international environment. He has played a significant role in promoting Singapore’s political, economic and security interests while safeguarding their national interests. He has led the Ministry through negotiations on various bilateral issues and was instrumental in promoting Singapore’s bilateral relations with various countries. He has also strengthened Singapore’s national standing in the international arena. For his contributions, he was conferred the “Order of Bernardo O’Higgins” with the rank of “Gran Cruz” by the President of the Republic of Chile in December 2002, and “The Oman Civil Merit Order, Second Class” by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos of Oman in February 2013. He was also awarded the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Meritorious Service Medal) in 2012 for his leadership and outstanding contributions to the Foreign Service.

Cindy Ko is Vice President of Asia Pacific, where she is in charge of accelerating the impact of Endeavor’s model throughout the region. Since joining Endeavor, she has led the organisation’s growth in the Middle East North Africa region. She is currently focused on expanding Endeavor’s model into Asia. Cindy graduated from the Harvard Business School (HBS), where she was among a small group of students selected for the school’s prestigious Leadership Fellowship. She has been a strong advocate for High-Impact Entrepreneurship and has spoken on numerous industry and academic panels and has been featured on television. Her passion for emerging markets and entrepreneurship started early with her studies at Wellesley College, where she graduated with a B.A. magna cum laude in International Relations/Political Economy. Her international work experience ranges from investment banking at Goldman Sachs in New York, to research analyst for a private investment firm in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to marketing manager for Coca-Cola in Mexico City. Cindy is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a former Fulbright Fellow. She is currently based in Singapore, and is dedicated to establishing Endeavor’s presence in the ASEAN region.

Goh Peng Ooi was appointed Group Executive Chairman on 23 May 2006. Prior to that, he was Non-Executive Chairman since 2002. He founded Silverlake in 1989, and through his foresight on the future of technology demands of the Banking industry, he has built Silverlake Group to be a leading provider of state-of-the-art universal banking solutions, with presence in over 20 countries across Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Through his vision, the Group has won various significant awards throughout the past 25 years including the recent “Best of the Best” Award 2013 in Forbes Asia’s “Best Under A Billion” for Asia Pacific, the Asian Banker Vendor Satisfaction Survey Gold Award 2014, and industry recognitions including various IBM awards. He was bestowed the Ernst & Young Technology Entrepreneur Award Malaysia 2005 in recognition of his entrepreneurial excellence. Prior to forming Silverlake Group, he had worked with IBM Malaysia. He held several senior positions over his 9 years career at IBM, his last being Marketing Manager for Banking and Finance Industry. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Major in Electronics) at the University of Tokyo on a Mombusho Scholarship in 1980. He currently holds directorships in a number of his private investment companies. He does not hold any directorships in other listed companies. He remains passionate about Science and Mathematics and contributes to various academic and industrial initiatives in the region.

Hakim has over 20 years experience developing and bringing to market leading- edge solutions at Accenture, Goldman Sachs, Thomson Financial/Reuters and three start-ups, with international operating experience in Europe, North America and across all major markets in Asia. In 2005, Hakim came to Asia to run Thomson’s sell-side business in the region, tripling its revenue and growth in three years, before heading up strategic business development. He was also instrumental in conceiving, developing and launching Thomson ONE, Thomson Financial’s flagship solution that became the dominant product in it’s class, displacing major incumbents. Hakim was selected by Endeavor in 2014 as a “high impact entrepreneur” for GridMarkets.

H.E Mustapa Mohamed was appointed Minister of International Trade and Industry on 10 April 2009. Prior to this appointment, he was the Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry, Minister of Higher Education, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Finance Minister II, and Minister of Entrepreneur Development. A graduate in economics from the University of Melbourne, Australia, Mustapa pursued a Master’s degree at Boston University, and began work as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in the Ministry of Finance (1974–1980). Later, he lectured at the National Institute of Public Administration (1982–1984) and served as Special Officer to the Minister of Finance (1984–1987), before entering active politics in late 1987.

Martin Venzky-Stalling is a Senior Advisor at the Chiang Mai University Science & Technology Park (CMU STeP) and was a founding member of the Creative Chiang Mai Development Committee. He has worked in almost all the ASEAN countries including Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Martin is an expert in market and strategic analysis, marketing strategy, policy advisory, market entry, and business development, and he currently focuses on regional economic development, internationalisation, innovation systems, creative economy development, and smart and creative city making.

Nelia V. Flores-Navarro is the Cebu Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the government agency tasked to propel the Philippine economy through a globally competitive and innovative Industry and Services sector. She leads the DTI-Cebu in championing business and consumers through programs that expand exports, increase investments, develop SMEs, and enhance consumer welfare. She serves as Member/Adviser to several organisations such as the Cebu Business Council of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board. She was also Convenor of the Creative Cebu Council.

As CEO of Kartuku, Niki leads Kartuku’s activities and carries out the strategic plans and policies established by the Board of Directors. A big believer in the importance of human capital, he has also applied a very hands-on approach to human resources, assembling a diverse, yet complementary, management team. Together with this team, he has successfully established Kartuku as the market leader in Indonesia. Kartuku’s success also can be attributed to Niki’s passionate focus on maintaining Kartuku’s core value proposition – security, efficiency and reliability – in all that it does. Niki discovered his passion for and interest in technology early on. His first foray in the technology sector was during a case competition at Haas, in which he successfully led his team to win a case competition for Cisco, a global leader in networking. Subsequently, he was recruited as a Financial Analyst by Latitude Capital Group, a boutique investment bank specialising in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) in the technology sector. After returning to Indonesia, Niki took a short break from technology and served in a management advisory capacity for two of Indonesia’s leading aluminum packaging companies, PT. Ancol Terang and PT. Arjuna. Beginning in May 2006, Niki returned to his true passion and his management expertise was enlisted to shepherd Kartuku’s growing business. Niki graduated Magna Cum Laude from Tufts University in Boston.

Pascal Lamy served two terms as Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) from September 2005 to September 2013. He began his career in the French civil service at the General Inspectorate of Finance and at the Treasury. In 1981 he became advisor of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Jacques Delors, and subsequently to Deputy Head of Prime Minister’s Pierre Mauroy cabinet. Between 1985 and 1994, Pascal Lamy was Chief of Staff for the President of the European Commission, Jacques Delors, and his representative as Sherpa in the G7. In November 1994, he joined the team in charge of rescuing Credit Lyonnais, and later became CEO of the bank until its privatisation in 1999. He then returned to the European Commission having been appointed as Commissioner for Trade under the presidency of Romano Prodi.

Rodney Ward has been Chairman, Asia-Pacific, of Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Global Corporate and Investment Banking since July, 2012. He was previously Chairman and subsequently President of UBS, Asia. He has more than 30 years of experience in the securities industry. After 20 years mainly in North America, he moved to Hong Kong in the 1990s where he has been based ever since, focusing on top government and corporate relationships. He served as a Non-Executive Director at Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd from 2001 to 2003. Since 2007 he has been a Co-Chair of The Consultative Committee for the Boyuan Foundation, a non-profit PRC think tank. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts at Cambridge University and attended Yale Law School.

Prof. Dr. Xiang Bing is the Founding Dean and a Professor of Chinese Business and Globalisation at Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB), a leading business school in China. Established in November 2002, CKGSB is China’s first privately funded and faculty- governed business school. Dr. Xiang’s research interests include the relationship between state and business, the reform of state-owned enterprises, innovation and the role of the private sector in China. He is a leading authority on Chinese business, innovations in China, the globalisation of Chinese companies and the global implications of the transformation of China. Alex Wan is Senior Advisor of China Daily Asia Pacific. He was Regional Director Greater China of the Conference Board of New York, member of the Corporate Advisory Council of Special Olympics, Senior Advisor of the China Initiatives of the Harvard School of Public Health and Senior Advisor of Women’s Forum Asia. He held senior regional management positions at several Fortune 500 companies in China and Asia. Previously called the China Daily CEO Roundtable which was established in 2004, the China Daily Asia Leadership Roundtable is a by invitation network of movers and shakers in Asia providing platforms for focused dialogue, issue investigation, and possible collective action on strategic issues relating to economic, business and social development in China and Asia.
