ASEAN Economic Community 2025 Dialogue

Date: 24th May 2016, Tuesday

Venue: MITI Tower, Kuala Lumpur

ABOUT THE EVENT

During Malaysia’s Chairmanship year, ASEAN has launched a second blueprint called ASEAN 2025: Forging Ahead Together at the 27th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur 2015, building on the vision of ASEAN Community Blueprint 2015. While there are measures that have not been achieved by 2015, ASEAN now has an extended deadline in the horizon to realign its vision with the people of ASEAN, including the private sector.

Central to this new blueprint is the inclusion of “people-centred” approach, as opposed to the top-down approach in the past. ASEAN has committed to enhancing the policy consultation process involving the private sector by encouraging ASEAN sectoral bodies to institutionalize private sector’s participation.

Pending the action plan of AEC 2025 measures provided in the document to be announced, it is with the hope that this dialogue will inform the private sector what to expect, and where possible, to resubmit recommendations to ASEAN.

  • Briefing on AEC 2025: is a single market and production base still the end goal?
  • What are the most crucial measures of AEC 2025 blueprint?
  • Update of AEC 2025 action plan timeline?
  • How can the private sector best support the ASEAN Secretariat in respect of funding?
