OVERVIEW
ASEAN Healthcare Webinar 2021 is CARI's healthcare sector focused event (in partnership with ASEAN BAC Malaysia), featuring influential policy-makers in a highly-interactive 90-min session, addressing current and emerging trends and issues faced by the industry and regional governments in adapting to the global pandemic.
With a combined population of more than 670 million people, ASEAN continues to be an attractive market to investors. However, ASEAN’s economy was estimated to have contracted by 3.8% in 2020, the first time in 22 years. In response to the greatest health crisis in our recent history, ASEAN Member States have endorsed the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework (ACRF) to guide the region’s strategic response to the COVID-19 pandemic and takes a whole-of-ASEAN-community approach and covers five broad strategies (link). Yet, vaccines roll-out policy decisions fall under the purview of each AMS and are largely dependent on stages of pandemic control.
This "COVID-19 vaccine rollout and the recovery of the ASEAN economy" session will discuss lessons learned in navigating policy challenges before, during and after COVID-19 pandemic, and is in line with the Pathway 225 (link) policy paper that was released by ASEAN BAC in 2020 (of which CARI was the knowledge partner).
